A Solidarity Association for all Leftists

Our association is made up of people who identify on the left side of the political spectrum. We are politically and financially independent, working together with all the spectrums that comprise the left, and have a pluralistic self concept. In the event of repression from law enforcement against individuals or the left movement as a whole, we see it as our obligation to be active and organize in solidarity. Despite all the possible differences within the Left, in the event of attacks, we stand together!

Solidarity advice and public Relations

Across the country we offer contact points, which are able to provide support in the event of repression. These local contact points can offer support, assistance, accompany activists to court as well as develop and support solidarity events. Our position is that one of the most effective and lasting tools in the battle against repression is the simple, absolute refusal to make a statement to either the police or to the prosecutor. It is also important that activists are up to date on current laws, and know their rights during actions/gatherings. We are also available to offer lectures at events, conferences or to small groups on these and other topics relating to solidarity and repression.

Financial Support in case of Repression

We are able to provide proportionate financial support for politically motivated court cases through membership dues and donations. Included in this are costs for legal assistance, penalties and court fees. With that support, we are able to ensure that the affected activist is not left alone with the material consequences of his/her activism, and that the activist‘s access to legal assistance is not a question of money.

Freedom for all political Prisoners

While the authorities and mainstream politicians assert there are no political prisoners in Germany, that is not true. While the majority of these prisoners are from Turkey/Kurdistan, there are also participants from left oriented protests such as the G-20 in prison, as well as other politically motivated cases. For these, we raise money to help finance an effective defense, and help shoulder the high costs of such cases. Additionally, we stand in worldwide solidarity with all members of left movements who are persecuted, arrested and imprisoned for their political engagement.

Against the criminalization of Left Politics

Regardless of whether it is the state’s unreasonable requirements for demonstration permits, forbidding of events, organizations, or the persecution of individual activists, we stand in solidarity against the state’s attempts to restrict left oriented politics. We stand in solidarity with organizations and activists that are affected by such actions, independent from their political positions and chosen forms of action.

Defend constitutional rights against surveillance and suppression

We defend our constitutional rights, by protesting against tightening of the law, and the attempt to restrict our basic fundamental rights. The new police laws are the most glaring examples of the state’s attempts to restrict our rights by granting the police wide ranging surveillance and observation powers. As well, we organize protests against the slow but steady erosion of our fundamental right to assemble, as well as the deprivation of the rights of refugees.
